Another great soccer practice with Rio 03. On our way back to Taos always stop at El Parasol for the best NM food. We love the veggie burrito!

Most delicious veggie taco I ever thought would totally gross me out and instead got me addicted. Broccoli cauliflower potato and carrots.... On a taco? Ruflippinkiddinme? But it's Oh. So. Good. Good beans, good burritos, good tacos al alicia too, hubby says. My hubby and I enjoyed El Parasol so much going to Colorado yesterday, we stopped back in today on the way home. That's good. And affordable. And relatively fast.

Best place to stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner when you're on the road from Taos to Santa Fe. I'm going to butcher the spelling but the Carne Asavaro is amazing. Jane had the veggie burrito and said it was the best food she's had so far. And we've been doing some hellacious dining over the last 9 days. Extremely pleasant place, clean as a whistle, super friendly staff. Oh, the beef tamale was good, too. Great to be back in the land of great Mexican.

These tacos. They're so damn good. I don't like hard shell tacos and avoid them like the plague when eating at New Mexican restaurants, but this place will always be the major exception. First off, the meat inside these is seasoned to perfection. Then the salsa you pour on packs a nice punch and is bursting with flavor as well. Then the freshly crisped taco shell puts these gems over the top. They're just delicious. The tamales are good too, but not quite the best in New Mexico. Eaten in combination with the tacos, they have a tough act to follow. Still, they hold their own. Oh, and to get two tacos and a tamale for under $7 is a great feeling. I wish Albuquerque had El Parasol.

I love this place! Pros: food is so amazing. I am obsessed with the chicken guacamole tacos. Decently priced, $5 for a burrito. Cons: the times I have been to this location, the service was slow...and this location doesn't have rellenos (you'll have to go up to Los Alamos for that) Nutshell: the food makes up for the slow service, I would highly recommend.

I've heard so many good things about this place that I had to try it. It's a nice small place outside of town. Clean and tidy. I really enjoyed the artwork they had on the walls and the style of the furniture. It was all very cute, colorful, and southwestern. Staff was also nice! Ordered the chicken green chile burrito. The green chile was the best I've eaten in a long time. Nice and fresh and not over-processed and, frankly, the reason I'm giving this place 4 stars. The chicken, unfortunately, was WAY too peppery - like A LOT of pepper. I still enjoyed it though. Otherwise I thought it was a little overpriced for a burrito. I will go back... Next time to try this carne burrito everyone raves about.

Looking for great place to stop for breakfast on way to Taos from Santa Fe & we knew it must be good because all fire dept was there. Get the Huevos Rancheros with carnitas - wonderful!

Traveling through Santa Fe tried this place(Cities of Gold location) based on Yelp reviews. We got there at about quarter til 5 on a Sunday and they close at 5p.(ridiculous) Their hours were not posted on their website or on Yelp. They did not seem happy to see us at all; the cashier in particular. For me, rude service always spoils the taste of even the best food, so they didnt get off to a great start. The food came out very quickly and was a good value. It was good food but not good enough to return again based on the service; I've certainly had better enchiladas. During our very rushed meal we saw at least a dozen families/patrons turned away because they close at 5 on Sundays but fail to provide that information anywhere. A couple of the employees seemed to enjoy deflating the folks coming in unaware that they were closed for the day. Yuck. Wish we had chosen differently.

This place looks like nothing from the outside, but inside it is quite cute. It is a fast food restaurant where you order, sit down, and they bring you the food. They make everything fresh to order, so it takes a while to get your food. The food is amazing. Holy cow. The tacos. El Parasol reminds you that if you take simple food and prepare it well, the results are fantastic. It's a really good value. El Parasol was my second best meal during my visit to Santa Fe. (The best meal was at Geronimo where I spent 10x as much.) Bottom line, it's worth going out of your way, and worth the wait once you're there.

Nothing beats their breakfast chorizo burrito with red chilé!! Whenever we do a mini New Mexico road trip, we always come down this way and stop for food. This location is better than any other!!

Tastes good going down, but this food is definitely a short-term rental so prepare accordinagly. Friendly service, clean environs.

El Parasol has to be the best takeout New Mexican food around the state! My suggested items are the chicharron burritos, the chicken tacos actually just about anything on the menu is a great choice. I always recommended that people traveling threw northern New Mexico stop by here for a great fast meal.

Best guacamole shredded beef tacos ever! We definitely have this place on our "must have" food list whenever we are staying at Buffalo Thunder or in Santa Fe.. We arrived just in time, within 10 mins this place got busy. If they start serving cervacas and margs this place would be too busy. Will come again.

Just SO good. I don't eat "fast food" but I make an exception for El Parasol. Made fresh to order. Get the shredded beef guacamole tacos. Everything is good.

Good for a quick bite to eat. Had the Chilaquiles with red chile - muy yummy! This is a $ type of restaurant -- no fancy-smancy but good mexican/new mexican grub with friendly and effcient service.

I read this review and since we were staying so close by i had to give it a try. Well i ordered for dinner the Combination Ana Maria tacos which comes with one of all three ( 1 shredded beef, 1 chicken guacamole, and 1 steak guacamole with a side of their arroz posole and beans). Let me tell you this definitely resolved all cravings for the day!! It was seriously a great must to do place!!!

This place looks like nothing, but the food is really good. I wish I hadn't found this place on my last day visiting the area; this could have become a daily stop for lunch. It's basically a fast food restaurant (not a place for a night out), but don't confuse it with Taco Bell -- it's a 1000x better.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
